Polycom and HTC to Deliver Polycom® RealPresence® Enterprise-Grade Video Collaboration to Smartphones and Tablets
Barcelona, Spain (PRWEB UK) 28 February 2012 Polycom, Inc. (Nasdaq: PLCM), the global leader in standards-based unified communications (UC), and HTC Corporation, a global designer of smartphones, today announced an agreement to collaborate and enable Polycom® RealPresence® Mobile on select HTC smartphones and tablets in mid-2012.

As part of the agreement, these select HTC devices will be certified Polycom-ready and optimised for RealPresence Mobile, which is expected to be available for download on HTC devices via the Android Market™ in mid-2012. RealPresence Mobile, powered by the Polycom® RealPresence™ Platform, is a secure, enterprise-grade video software solution for mobile devices that extends the reach of video collaboration beyond the conference room, allowing users on the go with a mobile device to easily connect with other standards-based video systems including immersive video rooms, group/desktop systems, laptops, tablets, and smartphones in HD quality.

Polycom announced RealPresence Mobile for tablets in October 2011, and on Monday at Mobile World Congress 2012, announced RealPresence Mobile is now also available for smartphones.
The Polycom and HTC agreement is focused on the opportunity presented by today’s 1 billion mobile workers – more than a third of the world’s total workforce – and prepares for the expected growth to 1.3 billion mobile workers over the next three years.

When we first asked the head of the Islamic Center, Jibril Hough, about all this in February, he said yes, NAIT owns their property, but he said he did not know the Feds had flagged the organization. Hough said he was concerned enough to take it to his board. Today, he announced he did that, and they decided not to dissociate. “They’re not guilty of anything so it’s not something that we should immediately move on to separate yourself from,” Hough says. What the Islamic Center is moving on is this: “Our government’s shameless public identification of the un-indicted co-conspirator list,” says Izzat Saymeh, outreach coordinator at The Center. “It’s a label used to fear and smear and discredit you,” says Hough. Deloitte: Vouchers Popular Among Consumers Looking to Dine Out
Nearly two-thirds of consumers from across the UK use a voucher for quick service and casual dining, while 48% will use a voucher in a bar or pub and 50% in a fine dining establishment. This according to findings from the latest Taste of the Nation survey conducted by Deloitte and BDRC Continental.
Among 18-34 year olds, the largest market for eating out, 67% use vouchers compared to 58% of 35-54 year olds and 51% of those over 55 years. Overall, the survey found over half of consumers or 59% have used a special offer voucher when eating out.
Ernst & Young: Moderate Growth Expected for Global Auto Industry in 2012
Moderate growth is forecast for the global automotive market in 2012 in keeping with the industry’s limited expansion of around three percent in 2011. Acknowledging that 2011 was another challenging year for the industry, Jeff Henning, Global Automotive Markets Leader for Ernst & Young, noted growing confidence among automotive executives was highlighted in the firm’s Automotive Capital Confidence Barometer released late last year. Henning said executives also identified maintaining or lowering levels of debt as an important theme in 2011.
Accenture: FBI Awards IT Support Services Contract
Accenture Federal Services has been awarded a Blanket Purchase Agreement and four task orders from the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to install an enterprise resource planning system to support the FBI’s Human Resources Information System. The BPA was awarded under the General Services Administration IT schedule that provides technology support services to the FBI. The task orders will enable Accenture to oversee selection, installation, testing and support to the agency’s HR systems. Accenture is eligible to receive additional task orders under the BPA.

VOANews – Scores of social and civic groups are backing the Occupy Wall Street protest movement around the world. At the site of the original Occupy demonstration in New York, a group of Muslims held Friday prayers in a show of support for the anti-corporate movement. Muslims associated with the New York Chapter of the Council on American Islamic Relations and the local Islamic Leadership Council came to express their grievances and to speak of social justice. “We as Muslim New Yorkers are here today because we are in solidarity and support of Occupy Wall Street,” said Linda Sarsour, director of the Arab-American Association.. Imam Aiyub Abdul Baki of the Islamic Leadership Council delivered a sermon on social justice based on the Last Sermon of the Prophet Muhammad. In a veiled reference to Wall Street bankers, the Imam mentioned the Prophet’s commandment against usury. He also noted US constitutional protections of religious expression, alleging that Muslim-Americans do not fully enjoy that right. “We are also suffering; suffering racism and discrimination. Islam-bashing is on the increase,” Baki said. With this Friday prayer, Muslims join Jewish and Christian groups that have brought an element of spirituality to the diverse, if ill-defined Occupy Wall Street movement for social and economic justice.
